Fitchburg, MA – Finally, summer has arrived. With blue skies and warm temperatures, the setting was perfect for the USA Track and Field New England Junior Olympics at Fitchburg State College. To-be senior at Keene High School (NH), Jaci Briggs took center-stage in the girls competition setting a new PR at first 11’3″ and then 11’6″. She took solid attempts at 11’9″ on a bigger pole, just brushing the bar off on her final attempt.

Patriot Vaulters Emma, Jacqui and Shannon were also competitive in the girls competition, each either tying or attempting a height near their respective PR’s. Shannon, in her first year of vaulting, tied her PR of 7’6″ and was looking better with every jump. Emma, not yet in high school, tied her PR of 9’0″, as well as competed in several other events at the meet. Jacqui, who is on the brink of a breakthrough working on her quick trail leg, had excellent attempts at her PR height of 9’0″.
