2018-19 Indoor Practice Information

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting indoor practices at
Brandeis University starting Sunday December 9th :-)

2018-19 Indoor Practice Schedule
Brandeis University – Gosman Sports & Convocation Center – Waltham, MA 02453
Tuesdays 7-10 / Thursdays 7-10 / Sundays 5-8
Evolved practice TBA

As has been the practice in the past weekday evening practices are reserved for collegians, open vaulters and more experienced scholastic athletes. If space permits we will allow a limited number of beginner & intermediate scholastic vaulters to participate on weekdays. Sunday afternoon practices are geared towards beginner and intermediate scholastic athletes as well as all brand new vaulters. We have the option to add more practice sessions if we experience overcrowding.

Please make sure you register ahead of time for all indoor practices using the links on our practice calendar so we can plan practices and adjust for the number of vaulters.

For future reference we already know of several dates that we will not be holding practice or will be changing the start times. Other changes may be made.

  • Tuesday 12/11 – due to a home basketball game we will practice from 8-11
  • Thursday 12/13 – no practice as the facility is unavailable
  • Sunday 01/20 – We will have several athletes competing at the GBTC Invitational and will probably move the start of practice to later in the evening
  • Sunday 02/03 – Super Bowl Sunday – we usually have earlier practices so folks can get home in time to watch the game
  • Sunday 02/17 – We will have several athletes competing at the USATF New England Championships and will probably move the start of practice to later in the evening

  • Enter the building at the front entrance and then let the front desk know that you are there for Patriot Pole Vault Club practices.
  • On weekday nights we will have to end practices AT 10:00 and no later unless otherwise noted.
  • We will have a complete set of poles available for your use from 9’0 to 15’1. If you plan on bringing your own poles you will want to first enter the building through the front entrance and then we can open a side door to let you bring in your poles .
  • This is a new facility to us so we will have to go through some growing pains as to how things are going to work here in terms of warming up, doing accelerations & pole runs off to the side, using the sand pit and other such things.
  • Spikes ARE allowed at this facility.
  • Obviously we need to keep the facility CLEAN! Please clean up after yourselves.

For insurance and liability purposes all athletes including collegians are required to have a USATF (USA Track and Field) membership prior to working out with the club. There are NO exceptions to this rule!

We will need proof of your USATF membership before we can allow any athlete to participate so please bring it to practice with you. If you have signed up for USATF membership online but have not received your membership card yet just print out the receipt with your USATF number. If necessary you can sign up for USATF membership at practice using your mobile device.

A year’s membership in the USATF costs $20 for those 18 and under and $30 for those 19 and up. It covers you until December 31st, 2019.  The easiest way to sign up for USATF membership is online at the USATF website.

As you register we ask that you list us as your “USATF-Registered Club”.
