Coach Ignacio ‘Iggy” Arguello

Coach Iggy began his vaulting career in 1999 for Westborough High School. After a successful high school career (12 feet) Coach Iggy attended UMASS-Amherst where he played Division I Rugby for all four years. While attending college, he returned to PPVC’s summer sessions both as a Coach and athlete. Upon graduating in 2007 with a degree in History, Coach Iggy began working as a Teacher’s Assistant for children with social and emotional disabilities, and is now currently teaching history at Worcester North High School.

Coach Iggy has had to curtail his coaching duties as he works on his doctorate in teaching but previously he was the Pole Vault Coach at WPI for 2014-2016,  the head coach for the Worcester North High School cross country boys and girls squads and an Outdoor Assistant Coach for Wayland High School from 2008-2014. In 2009 Coach Iggy became a USA Track and Field Level 1 Certified Coach.

Coach Nathaniel Bogan

Coach Than took his first vaulting lessons at Patriot Pole Vault in late 2017, at the age of 46.  Like anyone who finds “religion” late in life, he embraced it with irrational vigor!

At MIT from 1990-1993, Coach Than competed in the high jump and triple jump.  When his daughter took up those same events 30 years later, he became interested in coaching.  The head coaches at Natick High School offered him the chance to coach the high jump, contingent on also coaching the pole vault — an event he had tried just one time, as a freshman in high school!

Enter Patriot Pole Vault.  Coach Doug, Coach Ken, and many others helped teach Than how to vault.  In his first year of rebooting the program at Natick, he helped two seniors qualify for Division I States, and now has a large and eager crew of vaulters for the future.

Coach Than’s style is probably best described as “Physics nerd posing as an athlete.”

Coach Greg Bourque

Coach Dan Conti

Dan Conti started vaulting at Quabbin Regional in 1997 under the coaching of the great Ken Petersen.  While at Quabbin, Dan competed in several events besides the vault, such as the hurdles, making it to the State Championships. After high school, Dan went on to compete in the decathlon, pole vault, and the 110m high hurdles at Holy Cross, achieving PRs of 6652, 14’8″, and 14.6 respectively. Like so many of us, he was not ready to give up on track after college and  joined up with the Greater Boston Track Club, continuing to train and compete in track and field events. When not at the track, Dan is a master of the computer keyboard working as a video game programmer for Rockstar Games. Dan and his wife live near Boston, MA.

Coach Dan Delisle

Coach Delisle was formerly the record holder for three events in 1980, a few years back. The pole vault 12-9, 800 meters 1:59, and the 4×400 3:30. He has coached the recent record holders for both Chicopee Comp and Chicopee High with some locally respectable high school heights. Kyle Tereso, 13-6, Patrick Delisle 13-7, Zack delisle 13-0 is now knocking on the door of 15 at Westfield state. Devan Sterley 13-7, and Nick Delisle 13-9. there seems to be a lot of Delisles. We can’t leave out Hannah Elmer at 10 ft. Delisle also enjoys coaching for Patriot Pole vault Western Mass and enjoys coaching anyone who wants to be coached. He has a life motto of a positive attitude creates positive results, and preaches what he practices.
