York Beach Vault
About the Meet
The 2010 York Beach Vault will be held on Long Sands Beach, York, ME. This meet is in it’s 9th year and the weather forecast for once looks AWESOME! This is the only beach vault in New England. This annual event is open to all male and female competitors of ANY age, no matter if just getting out of elementary school or enjoying a retirement full of pole vaulting.
The competition will be held in 2 flights. ‘Elite’ vaulters – girls starting at 10′ or above and guys starting at 12′ and above – will be in the first flight. For this flight warmups will begin at 9am with a projected 10am start time. We will be alternating between girls and guys at 2′ increments (i.e. start with girl #1 at 10′, then guy #1 at 12′, then girls #2 at 10′ and so on) to keep things interesting.
Everyone else will be in the 2nd flight. Warmups for the 2nd flight will begin immediately after the completion of the 1st flight with the competition starting an hour later. Our best guess is that the second flight warmups will start around 12pm .
Our runway is the same runway we use at our indoor facility. It will be covered with a roll out rubber runway so spikes will be allowed.
